So if you are a Young Living user that spends any time at all on Facebook, it’s very likely that you’ve heard of the “Morphine Bomb” formula. It’s a blend of three oils – Copaiba, Frankincense and Idaho Balsam Fir that can be taken in a capsule or applied topically. You can also substitute Idaho Blue Spruce for the Balsam Fir, which is what I have done the last few times and it works just as well (maybe better!) And let me tell you, this is a miracle formula. Here’s a little about the individual oils:
Frankincense (Boswellia carteri) has a sweet, warm, balsamic aroma that is stimulating and elevating to the mind. Useful for visualizing, improving one’s spiritual connection, and centering, it has comforting properties that help focus the mind and overcome stress and despair. Frankincense is considered the holy anointing oil in the Middle East, where it has been used in religious ceremonies for thousands of years. More recently, it has been used in European and American hospitals and is the subject of substantial research. Frankincense is also a valuable ingredient in skin care products for aging and dry skin.
Copaiba is a powerful essential oil from South America that has traditionally been used to aid digestion and support the body’s natural response to injury or irritation.* Copaiba contains the highest amounts of beta caryophyllene (55 percent) of any known essential oil.
Traditionally used for muscular aches and pains, the warm aroma of balsam fir soothes and rejuvenates body and mind. Known for supporting respiratory function,* this herbaceous oil can be diffused for aromatherapy or diluted with a carrier oil for topical application. Also believed to create an uplifting sense of well-being, balsam fir is a 100 percent pure Young Living Therapeutic Grade™ essential oil distilled from the needles of the balsam fir tree.
And last but not least, my personal current favorite, Idaho Blue Spruce!! Grown, harvested and distilled on Young Living’s Farm in northern Idaho, blue spruce (Picea pungens) contains high percentages of the plant constituents alpha-pinene and limonene. Applied topically, blue spruce has been known to relieve tense and stressed muscles, while the woodsy aroma of this oil invigorates the senses, brings peace to the mind, and relaxes the body. Its aromatic influences also help open and release emotional blocks, bringing a feeling of balance and peaceful security.
So now that you know a little more about what’s in it, what do you use it for? Well, just about every single type of pain. For me, the biggest breakthrough with this combination has been my relief of menstrual pain. I’m one of those women who is debilitated by pain every month, for at least the first 24 hours of my period. It’s brutal. We’re talking about curled up in a fetal position in bed in tears brutal. So I’ve tried EVERY different oil to help find some relief. A couple of months ago, I had a bridal shower to go to on a day I was feeling like this, and I really didn’t want to miss it! For whatever reason, the morphine bomb never really occurred to me, until my Mom suggested it. Why do they always just KNOW? Anyway, I tried it with the Balsam Fir, and applied Balsam Fir to my abdomen, and literally started feeling better in 5 minutes. In 20 minutes, I felt COMPLETELY NORMAL WITH NO PAIN. It was so crazy! This was the only thing I was still using over the counter pain relievers for (not that they did much good, just took the edge off). Now I am totally free of any toxic medications, and that’s an amazing feeling. The next month, I was out of Balsam Fir, but had just returned from convention where I was blessed enough to receive a bottle of Idaho Blue Spruce. I had seen a testimonial that said that a fellow oiler had used Blue Spruce when she was out of Balsam Fir, and that it worked even better. And she was right! I found relief even more quickly with this combination. This is one of my FAVORITE YL finds so far!
